Universal Taste was founded in 2000, with the end goal of producing and exporting 100% purest pure fruit pulp to the world. President Guilherme C. Moreira started his research on the Acai fruit, known by the world as "The Milk of the Amazon", two years before creating the company. He discovered that acai was considered to be the most nutritious of the Rainforest fruits with the highest concentration of antioxidants ever found in nature, and also packed with Omega 3 and 6, anthocyanins, essential fatty acids, and Vitamin E. Guilherme also noted that acai was popular in the sports world among athletes and wanted to Introduce to the United States a product that gave natural energy as well as promoted good health.

He was also concerned with the environment; he wanted to make sure that the trees were not damaged in the process, and respect was shown by protecting the environment and helping the natives of these rural areas. In 2001, Acai Power was introduced to the United States. It had a positive feedback, with many American athletes and health conscious consumers taking notice. It has appeared in various health magazines and many articles have been featured on the benefits of this delicious exotic fruit.

In Fall 2004, Universal Taste launched the Amazon Garden Collection, partnering with Poema-Tec in Brazil and exclusively representing the Collection in the States. The Amazon Garden Collection is a series of 100% coconut fiber pots, blankets, mantles, stakes, and discs. The collection also includes 100% coconut fiber powders and fertilizers. These products are made from a mixture of coconut fiber and latex, which allows plants and flowers to breathe and take shape freely. All of the Amazon Garden Collection's products are biodegradable, durable, and act as a natural fungicide, promoting a longer, healthier life for the plant, and a reduced cost for the gardener.
